The Township of Algonquin Highlands is looking into putting in a solar project themselves. There’s a chance to get some government money through the Small Communities Fund, and councillors just decided to go after it. I t means spending about $8,000 in studies to look at different sites. Even though council says they don’t like spending unbudgeted money, the projects fit into economic development. They’re asking for studies at the new Dorset public works garage, the Stanhope Airport, the municipal office, and the Dorset Rec Centre.
