Missing hiker from Kawartha Lakes found in Minden

A hiker that couldn’t be located in Kawartha Lakes has been found by police in Minden.

The 55 year old Mississauga man left from Black River Road and was supposed to be back on Sunday. When his family didn’t hear from him on Monday, they called police.

Constable Jackie Hildenbrand says the man was hiking with a group and decided to stay in longer. OPP started the search yesterday with ATVs and helicopters when calls to the man’s cellphone when unanswered.

It wasn’t until around 8:00 last night that he was able to contact his family once he reached the Devil’s Lake Landing in Minden.

Police found the man in good condition, but are reminding hikers to take every precaution when hiking.
