Program launches in Haliburton County to prevent fentanyl overdose

Fentanyl is a drug that’s being illegally sold across Canada, and now Haliburton County has a program to help. Public Health Nurse with the local health unit, Leslie McLaughlin says fentanyl patches are prescribed as a pain killer, but they’re being misused.

Haliburton Highlands OPP are a partner in the project along with other local organizations like A Place Called Home.

McLaughlin explains what the Patch 4 Patch program is all about:

In only five years, fentanyl was the cause of 650 deaths in Canada. The Patch 4 Patch program is modeled after other communities like City of Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough, and North Bay.
