A local cottage association is trying to get a helipad to Fort Irwin. The Haliburton Lake Cottager’s Association says there isn’t an area close to them for the air ambulance to land, delaying emergency response time. They’ve mapped out the area and say a gravel pit on Haliburton Lake Road would be a good location. Support is already rolling in from the Haliburton County Paramedic Services, and Ornge.
There would be a lot of steps to making that happen including going to the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Labour. Reeve Murray Fearrey says it’s something they’ll investigate.
