Work to begin at Stanhope Airport

A tree cutting tender will go out Thursday to cut down 4 hectares of trees in Algonquin Highlands. The trees will be removed to make way for a 20,000 square foot headquarters for the MNR at the Stanhope airport. The township heard right before Christmas that Canada Build funds originally earmarked for a crosswind runway could now be used to relocate the MNR fire management headquarters. Algonquin Highlands also had plans to move existing hangars to a different location on the property.
