The Haliburton Highlands OPP is looking to partner with cottage owners to stop break-ins in the area. Police say most break-ins happen between the week after Thanksgiving and Victoria Day.
The OPP says there are simple ways that you can help reduce the risk of theft from your cottage. Groom trees and shrubs around entryways and windows so they can be seen from the road. Remove all valuables from the building when you leave. Get rid of any large objects outside that could be used to break-in. Arrange for someone you trust to check on your property when you’re not there.
Call police immediately if you see someone suspicious on your neighbour’s property.
