HKLB sees increase in voter turnout

Voter turnout in Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Brock was higher this year compared to the last federal election.

About 68 per cent of the riding voted this time around, compared to 63 per cent in 2011. The number of voters has dropped by about two thousand with two small townships becoming a part of a different riding since the last election.

A 68 per cent turnout is about one per cent higher than the national average. The numbers are preliminary and based on data from Elections Canada.

Returning Officer Jerry Ford says our riding always has a good turnout, but it was definitely higher this year.
