Private Member’s Bill on protecting victims of violence passes second reading

There’s another MPP in Ontario fighting alongside Haliburton Kawartha Lakes Brock MPP Laurie Scott to protect victims of violence. Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski’s Private Member’s Bill to protect victims of violence has passed the second reading. The bill got the support of all parties in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. He says he hopes that the government will build on this to create its own legislation.

Yakabuski says the best option is for the government to bring forward legislation itself because they can accomplish his goal in a more comprehensive way.
