Highlands East council is saying no to maintaining Universal Road this winter, but will consider it for next year.

A few associations got together to formally request winter maintenance of the road. It’s Highlands East jurisdiction, but crews would have to go through Dysart to get there.

Council says not only is it too late in the year, but the road also isn’t up to provincial standards. They agreed to talk about it in next year’s budget.

The municipality will also be doing a full review of the roads they own but don’t maintain year round so they can have a policy to deal with the issue.
