Disposable society taking its toll on Dysart

A disposable society doesn’t bode well for the Municipality of Dysart.

That’s the message coming from Director of Public Works, Brian Nicholson. He’s giving information to councillors about local landfills filling up. He’s putting in a few suggestions, but says it’s something they have to look into now before it’s too late. He also says West Bay and Kennisis landfills are under-used so different options can be explored to keep cost and environmental impact down.

Things like transfer stations, expanding, or seasonal operations are all suggestions.

Dysart council is looking for concrete information and costs to be presented so they can make some decisions.
