News More strategies in poverty reduction come forward SHARE ON: Smith Autumn, contributor, Friday, Nov. 27th, 2015 Ways to address local poverty through employment is coming to county councillors. The City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County poverty reduction working group has released their latest report. Some of their recommendations include industry retention and expansion, along with addressing barriers to employment. Things like transportation, affordable housing and internet access are all on that list. Warden Murray Fearrey says as much as they can do locally, they also need help from provincial and federal governments.
