Two people are facing charges after allegedly trying to avoid a RIDE check. A 21-year-old Highlands East man was behind the wheel on New Years Eve when the Bancroft OPP pulled him over. Officers allege he was drinking, and laid careless driving charges. His 27-year-old passenger is also facing charges, for allegedly stealing from a Bancroft business a few days earlier. She is being charged with theft under five-thousand dollars and breaking probation.
