MPP Laurie Scott weighs in on the announcement to cut Hydro bills

The recent announcement to cut hydro bills in Ontario isn’t impressing Laurie Scott. The MPP for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock says we’re 16 months out of an election, and the government has finally woken up to what the province has been saying about suffering with the high cost of electricity.

Scott says on top of that, the Liberals are moving forward with the Green Energy Act.

Scott says those projects are being signed for more than fair market value, and the only answer the government is giving is to say it will be bad for business in Ontario if those contracts aren’t signed.

The Wynne government plan to cut Hydro bills by 25 per cent will come into effect this summer, and will cost about $40 billion in interest over the next 30 years.
