Haliburton homeowners will be forking out some extra cash in taxes this year. County council approved its 2017 budget, which is a nearly five per cent increase. That equals out to be an extra nine-dollars for every $100,00 in assessments. Treasurer Elaine Taylor says that number brings the county closer to the level of taxes required for long-term sustainability.
