M.P.P. Laurie Scott continues to educate people on human trafficking

After getting her anti human trafficking bill passed, Laurie Scott wants to educate people about the crime.

The Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock M.P.P. is hosting an event Monday in Peterborough on Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

Scott says survivor Simone Bell will be speaking.

Scott also says the average age of a human trafficking victim is 14.

She says someone can become a victim in one day.

Scott also hopes events like Monday’s will give victims courage to come forward.

Scott had her bill passed in the legislature last month.

The event will be at The Venue in Peterborough from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
