The Dysart et al Fire Department wants you to be safe this long weekend.
Fire Chief Mike Isles says if you plan on having a camp or backyard fire, it is only permitted at night.
Isles adds to make sure you have a bucket of water close by.
When you are done with your fire, he suggests dousing it with water, and then using a shovel to stir it and make sure all burning coals are extinguished.

Isles says it is possible that one lit coal could cause a big fire.
If you start a fire and the department determines you are responsible, penalties start at $450.
