Hometown Hockey cost County over $16,000

Haliburton County now knows how much it cost to host a hockey festival last month.

According to a county Tourism Committee report, the final bill is $16,070.09.

Over $10,000 of that figure came from signage, which the county had to pay as part of hosting Hometown Hockey.

The total bill would have been higher but Hydro One gave a grant of $6,000 towards the festival and the county’s municipalities contributed a total of $1,766.56 towards shuttle service.

The report says over 4,000 people came to Head Lake Park to enjoy the festivities and that there were over 9.1 million consumer impressions through various forms of media, including social, print, radio and television.

A major bank also donated $15,000 to the Highland Storm Minor Hockey Association.
