Haliburton County now knows its share of the nearly $5 billion infrastructure deficit in Ontario.
The Association of Municipalities of Ontario released a report on how much of the gap lower-tier municipalities are grappling with.
According to the A.M.O. report, the County is facing a $3,717,021 deficit when it comes to its roads and bridges.
The county’s four municipalities are also dealing with a funding gap for its infrastructure.
Dysart et al’s deficit is over $2.6 million, and Minden Hills is facing a shortfall of just over $2.1 million.
Highlands East would need almost $1.6 million to bring its roads and bridges up to par, while the figure for Algonquin Highlands is just over $1.6 million.
Through A.M.O. politicians asked the province for a one per cent increase in the H.S.T. to help cover the gap, but Premier Kathleen Wynne rejected the idea.
