Haliburton Heat Bank has tips to keep warm

With the extreme heat warning in effect, the Heat Bank has tips to stay warm.

Haliburton County is under an extreme cold warning until tomorrow the earliest and My Haliburton Now.com spoke with Tina Jackson from the Heat Bank of Haliburton County about how folks can stay warm in these extreme low temperatures.

Jackson says that it is important to limit your time outdoors during these temperatures and if you need to go out, she says cover as much of your skin as possible. As well, Jackson says keep your pets in as much as possible, adding that their fur is not enough to protect them through this colds, and their paw pads can not handle long exposure to the frozen surfaces.

Another suggestion that Jackson offers to keep warm is to cuddle with your loved ones or pets.

Jackson says through the winter and in particular these extreme temperatures, it is a good idea to keep the heat circulating through your home, especially the areas that your water pipes are located. Jackson says to stop the pipes from freezing, you can turn on the water very low.

Jackson says that anyone that is need of heating help can contact the heat bank by calling 705-306-0565.
