MPP Laurie Scott announces $12.3 million investment in natural gas for Fenelon Falls

The Haliburton-Kawartha-Lakes-Brock MPP Laurie Scott is promoting the use of natural gas following an investment announcement.

Scott and the Minister of Instructure Monte McNaughton were in Fenelon Falls earlier today to announce a $12.3 million investment to bring more natural gas to Fenelon Falls.

According to McNaughton, this investment will bring natural gas to roughly 1,307 homes, and create an energy bill savings of $600 a month for the average home.

Scott told the crowd on hand that the natural gas expansion is one way the province is trying to make life more affordable. She goes on to say “for years I’ve heard that home heating costs are unaffordable…and natural gas can make home heating more affordable.”

Scott says that “natural gas access will provide small businesses, here in Fenelon Falls, with greater flexibility to grow their businesses to benefit the entire community.”

After Scott spoke, McNaughton took to the podium saying that natural gas is not just a luxury for big cities but also rural communities as well. McNaughton goes on to say that this investment underlines Ontario’s commitment to natural gas.

Andy Letham, the mayor of Kawartha Lakes, said that they are hoping the homes and businesses will be hooked up by the summertime.
