Kawagama subdivision getting closer to construction

A new subdivision in Algonquin Highlands is taking another step towards construction.

Although it’s still not shovel ready, the plans for a four-lot subdivision in Algonquin Highlands were met with zero contention this week.

As part of the planning process for changes to bylaws and zoning amendments, the county held a meeting for the subdivision for the public to have a chance to raise their concerns or support for the idea.

During the public meeting, no one in the audience raised concerns about the plan, but Charlsey White, the Director of Planning, said that she did receive three letters from neighbouring property owners that felt the four-lot subdivision would not be an issue for them.

Because the project is going to be built in Algonquin Highlands, Mayor Carol Moffat, while supporting the idea, voiced her concerns over the nearby boat launch and how it is going to be affected by the presence of a subdivision that can only be accessed from the water.

Another concern that was raised while talking about the plan, was the fact that people looking to use the recreation-based lots will need places to park. White explained that parking has been secured already.

Now that the public meeting has come and gone, White and the property owner will continue working to get the site approved for construction.
