With their 2020 budget signed, sealed and delivered, Algonquin Highlands turned their attention back to solid waste disposal.
At their March 5 meeting, council were given an update on the ongoing project of septage capacity.
The township wants to be prepared for future capacity needs and began a process to assess expansion of existing sites in the early 2000’s.
In 2006 it was determined the Maple Lake site could not be expanded. Algonquin Highlands had the McClintock septage trench site tested and hired Cambium Environmental to provide environmental assessment requirements to expand.
Council agreed with staff to continue to put money in the reserves to be ready to expand the site on adjoining crown land. It was also agreed to discontinue the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and notify the public of the discontinuation.
