The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit has confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 in the region.
A woman who had recently returned on Air Transat flight 337 from Lisbon, Portugal, has tested positive for the virus. The woman returned to Northumberland County on March 6 and visited Northumberland Hills Hospital on Wednesday March 11 with symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection.
Anyone who was on the flight or may have come in contact with the woman, is asked to contact their local health unit.
The patient, in her 60s, is home in self-isolation.
