The Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Pine Ridge District Health Unit has announced a second case of COVID-19 in our region.
On March 10, a woman in her 60’s returned from a trip to Germany, travelling on Air Canada flight 877 from Frankfurt. She visited Ross Memorial Hospital on March 12 with possible COVID-19 symptoms.
The woman who lives in the City of Kawartha Lakes, was released from hospital and is in self isolation at home.
Health Unit nurses are working with the patient to identify anyone she may have been in contact with while ill.
HKPR Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lynn Noseworthy says the Health Unit has been working closely with Ross Memorial Hospital and that hospital staff took appropriate precautions to isolate the woman so there was no risk to anyone else at the hospital.
