Environment Canada has issued a tornado warning for our area.
The weather agency says meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible.
Officials say it is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.
Locations impacted include: Haliburton and Bigwind Lake Provincial Park.
A second severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado is located near Morrison Lake and moving east.
Locations include Gravenhurst and Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial.
“If you hear a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately,’ says the agency.
