HHHS Foundation thanks community for successful fundraising campaign

The Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation is once again thanking the community for contributing to the largest and most successful fundraising campaign in the hospital’s history.

Almost one year ago the campaign launched, and in under a year $6.2 million dollars was raised in support of diagnostic imaging.

The funds were used to purchase a CT scanner, new ultrasound, a diagnostic imaging data archiving system.

In a video about the fundraising efforts, Hospital President and CEO Veronica Nelson explains just how much of an impact the CT scanner has had.

“From July 9 to the end of March 31 this year we scanned 2,700 patients and over 1,100 of those were from the emergency department. If you think of those 1,100 patients in nine months, they would have been shipped out to another hospital,” she said.

Officials say less hospital transfers has also reduced the strain on the local ambulance service.
