Haliburton Highlands Health Services to begin search for new CEO

The President and CEO of Haliburton Highlands Health Services is leaving.

According to officials, Veronica Nelson will be taking over as President and CEO of Ross Memorial Hospital in the City of Kawartha Lakes. Nelson’s last day at HHHS will be September 5.

Officials say under her leadership, the hospital successfully brought CT services to the community, began the essential work of master planning for both the hospital and long-term care homes, and forged new community partnerships.

“It has been the honour of a lifetime to serve as President and CEO of this incredible organization,” said Nelson.  “I am deeply grateful to our dedicated staff, outstanding leadership team, board of directors, foundation, auxiliary, community partners, residents, families, and most importantly, our patients, clients and residents. Thank you for your trust, your collaboration, and your unwavering commitment to care. While I look forward to this next chapter, I will always carry immense pride in what we’ve accomplished together at HHHS.”

The Board of Directors will be meeting in the next couple of weeks to begin the search for her successor.

“We look to the future with confidence and excitement, building on the strong foundation that was developed under Veronica’s leadership,” said Irene Odell, HHS Board Chair.
