Minden Hills council is used to hearing requests for solar projects, but not as big as the one that came up yesterday. Algonquin Power is proposing a solar project that will cover 300 acres on Bethel Road.
It’s another request as part of the province’s Feed-in-Tariff program, which means council only has a month to decide. Reeve Brent Devolin expressed their frustration with the program because it’s not giving them enough time to look into it.
The company is planning a public meeting for July 14.
Devolin said if they don’t have the facts they need to make a wise decision, they’ll probably say no, but they’ll do everything they can.
