Partnership looks to study economic impact of farmer’s markets in Haliburton County

The Haliburton County Farmer’s Market wants to measure just how much of an impact they have on the community.

They are partnering with U-Links to apply for funds from the Rural Ontario Institute. They’re planning to develop a way to measure the economic and social impact of the markets. The application is for $15,000.

County councillors are praising the markets for what they bring the community, and have agreed to be the signing authority on the application.

Warden Murray Fearrey says this is one step forward in their poverty reduction strategy.
