Local police units are raising awareness about a potentially fatal drug. Fentanyl has killed 500 people in the past five years in Ontario, according to the Haliburton Highlands OPP. The police say the drug is more powerful than morphine and heroine. It’s prescribed by doctors as a pain killer, but the patches are being cut up and sold on the streets, or added to other drugs. The OPP is going to take part in a social media campaign to raise awareness about the dangers.
