United Way is Celebrating Their Accomplishments in Haliburton With Garden Tour

The United Way Kawartha Lakes is hosting a tour of one of the gardens they’ve built in Haliburton County.

To celebrate what the United Way has accomplished in the area, United Way and Community Living are inviting the public to attend a tour of the vegetable garden just built at 2 Victoria Street in Haliburton Village.

The garden here in Haliburton is just one of nine that the United Way has been involved in building. Penny Barton-Dyke, the Executive Director of United Way Kawartha Lakes, says that her branch has only started getting involved in the Haliburton community over the past couple of years, adding that on top of the vegetable gardens built in the area, with their partnership with the LCBO, the United Way has raised close to $75,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Food for Kids and Early-on Childhood education.

Barton-Dyke says that the event is a casual drop-in affair that starts at 12:00pm.
