Varsity Hockey Team Hosting Charitable Home Opener

The Red Hawks Varsity hockey team is hoping to bring the heat in more ways than one.

Tomorrow night the varsity boys will be hosting the Campbellford Flames for their home opener, and with the home opener, the hockey team will be taking donations for the Haliburton County Heat Bank.

According to the team’s coach Jason Morsett, Tina Jackson, one of the members of the heat bank will be on hand for the ceremonial puck drop. As well, staff will be at the gate collecting donations for the heat bank. The high school says “100 per cent  of all donations will stay in our county to help heat homes in our community in times of need during vulnerable cold winter months.”

Before the game, people interested in attending can purchase pucks from the foyer of the school for a dollar, then during intermission, those pucks are going to be thrown on the ice to potentially win a prize. Aside from pucks to throw, the high school is also offering raffle tickets and a draw to win prizes

Also happening as part of the Week of Kindness, the players will be cutting, splitting, stacking and delivering firewood to people around Haliburton County. This is happening on December 2nd.
