OSPCA confirms dogs taken from Haliburton area home

The Ontario SPCA is checking up on a group of dogs following an investigation into their safety.

MyHaliburtonNow.com spoke with Melissa Kosowan, the Associate Director of Communications, who says that over the weekend, the O.P.P. went to a house in Haliburton County after receiving complaints, that a number of Husky-type dogs were being kept outside.

Kosowan says the dogs have been relocated and notes that the OSPCA is checking on the dogs to make sure that they receive the care needed.

Over the weekend, MyHaliburtonNow.com had received several messages from concerned citizens regarding the dogs, the messages suggested that the dogs were being left without food and water, as well as being left outside overnight. The messages suggested that the dog owner, who has not been named, was unwilling to care for the pets.

Kosowan says that she can not give any more information at this time because of the investigation that is on-going but adds that anyone with information can connect with OSPCA by calling 310-SPCA (7722).
