The Haliburton County Snowmobile Association awarded grant for trail upgrades

Bombardier Recreational Products, manufacturers of Ski Doo and Lynx snowmobiles has chosen The Haliburton County Snowmobile Association as a grant recipient of it’s Ski Doo Snow Pass Program.

The snowmobile manufacturer selects club trail projects from across North America and has invested nearly a million dollars in safety initiatives and trail improvements over the past couple of years.

Officials share the funding for the HCSA will go towards increased reflective trail markers on TOP Trail “B”, one of its busiest trails on an Ontario Hydro corridor through Algonquin Park to Whitney.

“This 30-kilometre stretch is extremely challenging, when the wind gets up it can reduce visibility to near zero at times challenging our riders and groomer operators,” said HCSA President Neil Vanderstoop. “An additional 300 orange trail markers will make a huge difference. HCSA volunteers will install the trail stakes within the next few days in time for the coming season.”
