The drinking water advisory issued by Lakelands Public Health remains in place for residents and cottage owners on South Lake in Minden Hills.
According to Public Health officials, furnace oil was released from a private property into the lake on the weekend of April 16, 17.
Officials said a sheen remains visible on the water and may shift with changing wind and weather conditions.
Residents and cottage owners drawing water from South Lake are advised not to use the water for drinking, cooking or food preparation, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, bathing or showering, or dishwashing.
Health officials also said boiling the water will not make it safe and recommend using bottled water or another safe drinking water source not affected by the advisory.
MECP, the Township of Minden Hills, and Lakelands Public Health continue to monitor the situation.
Officials said the advisory will remain in effect until further notice, and residents will be notified when it is safe to resume normal water use.
