The County of Haliburton’s tourism website has been restored following a cyber security incident.
According to officials, MyHaliburtonHighlands.ca was taken offline on Aug. 12 and restored Aug. 14 following a thorough investigation.
Officials said the incident caused visitors to the site to be redirected to a fraudulent virus notification. However, there is no indication any confidential County information was involved or accessed.
Anyone who visited the site, saw the pop-up and interacted is urged to clear there browsers history, cookies and cache.
The County says additional security measures were implemented before the tourism website was restored.
