The province has released changes to the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan, but our local Chamber of Commerce is still concerned. The province released the statement that the ORPP won’t apply to people who already have a comparable workplace pension plan.
President of the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce, Jerry Walker says even though some changes are steps in the right direction, it will have a negative impact on businesses.
According to the Chamber, 44 percent of businesses said they would reduce their payroll or hire fewer employees if they had to contribute to the ORPP.
