The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit wants to help smokers quit for good.
Starting May 18th , the health unit will be giving away free nicotine patches for five weeks as well as resources.
Local smokers are being encouraged to call the health unit to see if they qualify for the Smoking Treatment program.
Local Nurse Karen Taylor says nicotine patches can double the chance of people becoming smoke-free.
