As the colder weather slowly makes its way into Haliburton County, bears are getting ready to hibernate.
The Haliburton Highlands OPP says during this time of year, these animals are fattening up for the winter.
They say if bears don’t have the natural food they need, they will visit your property to find alternate sources of food.
The OPP is asking residents to limit food outside your house by keeping garbage inside, and picking fruit from trees.
They say if this isn’t done, bears will continue this habit and will keep coming to your property.
