Police see an increase of pedestrian deaths

Our local OPP detachments are raising awareness to the amount of pedestrian deaths in Ontario so far this year. The number is the highest it’s been in eight years, as 30 people have already been killed. Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says that number is very alarming, and the year isn’t over yet.

Schmidt says the onus is on both drivers and pedestrians to stay safe on the roads. He says pedestrians need to pay attention to the traffic, look before crossing the street, and wear light-coloured or reflective clothing.
