Haliburton County Farmers Market hopes to remain in Minden municipal parking lot

The Haliburton County Farmers Market is looking forward to discussing its future with Minden Hills council.

The farmers market currently occupies the municipal parking lot in Minden on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The market prefers to remain in the parking lot but council is considering relocating vendors to the fairgrounds.

Farmers Market Past Chairperson Angel Taylor says it has support to stay put.

Taylor says while the fairgrounds is visually pleasing, moving there could hurt the vendors bottom line.

Taylor presented a report to council in June saying when the market was at the fairgrounds, they never surpassed 400 visitors.

That same report also showed double the traffic in the municipal parking lot.

Minden Reeve Brent Devolin said no decisions have been made yet, and council looks forward to discussing the issue later this year.
