Fifteen H.H.H.S. employees will be taking Indigenous Cultural Safety Training

Fifteen employees with Haliburton Highlands Health Services will get unique training.

Indigenous Culture Safety Training is being provided through the Central East Local Health Integration Network.

The goal of the courses is to give employees a better understanding how cultural differences can affect healthcare access for the indigenous population.

H.H.H.S. President and C.E.O. Carolyn Plummer says a limited number of spots are available so she was thrilled to learn that 15 staff members are able to participate.

Plummer says employees from different departments are taking the training, but wanted to make sure anyone who deals with the public on a daily basis was included.

The cost of the training is covered by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
