Dysart wants to see reduced speed limit on provincial road leading into Village of Haliburton

Dysart et al wants to see the speed limit on Highway 118 reduced near Haliburton.

Council made a formal request to the Ministry of Transportation asking it to bring the limit from 80 kilometres an hour to 60 on the section of the Highway known as Dover’s Hill.

Any changes or adjustments to signage and speeds on provincial routes must be rubber stamped by the M.T.O.

Mayor Murray Fearrey says going 80 kilometres down that stretch of road could be dangerous.

Fearrey adds the process and timeline is entirely in the hands of the province.

Fearrey is hopeful the M.T.O. will change the speed limit by May or June of next year.

Any cost associated with the request is in the hands of the province.
