The Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce wants to see residents buy local.
Chamber President Richard Wannan says with the minimum wage now up to $14 an hour, supporting county businesses is critical for our economy.
Wannan says he wants to see stores, restaurants and other businesses in the area open year-round.
Wannan adds he realizes online shopping is here to stay, but says it’s worth it to head to a local store first before you buy from out of town.
Wannan reminds people that if you stop buying from local businesses, they likely won’t survive.
