Hike for Hospice in the county to raise money and awareness for palliative care in Haliburton

The Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation wants you to get exercise while raising awareness. The foundation is hosting a Hike for Hospice on May 6th in the Village of Haliburton to raise awareness of the importance of palliative care. Foundation Executive Director Lisa Tompkins says the Hike for Hospice is a national event in conjunction with National Hospice and Palliative Care Week, but the funds raised will help county residents.

Tompkins says it’s an important cause with the county’s average population close to 55-years-old, and adds it’s a great opportunity to raise money and awareness.

Participants can do a one-kilometre hike on the track at Haliburton Highlands Secondary School, or a five-kilometre walk on the Head Lake Park Trail. Last year, two palliative care beds were added to Haliburton.

You can register for the event by clicking here.
