Low Water levels Making Paddling Challenging in Algonquin Park

Paddlers be warned, some waterways in Algonquin Park are experiencing low water levels.

Tim River and Latour Creek are both reportedly experiencing lower than normal water levels. Algonquin Park staff is encouraging that anyone looking to paddle those waterways to plan your trip to allow extra time to get through those areas.

A blog post from theparklands.org recommends learning how to read water before taking a paddling trip through low water areas, preparing yourself with bug spray, sunscreen and lots of water, and to expect bugs, sweat and heat. The biggest recommendation is to take your time and give yourself as much chance to avoid rocks and other obstacles that could damage your boat or hurt you.

Maps of the waterways can be purchased in the park for $5.
