Herlihey Park Has its Initial Design

The final look of Herlihey Park in Wilberforce is starting to take shape.

Northern Design, the company designing the renovations to the park, has now released the design master plan. A plan draft was first presented to the public on August 18th.

The park was donated by Carol and Karl Marcus in honour of their late parents Beatrice and Harold Herlihey. According to Northern Design, any plans for the park will try to preserve elements of the park that make it unique. They also expressed an importance in recognizing the history of the lumber industry the location has.

According to the master plan, the goal is to have the park feature water oriented programming, as well as a multi-use pavilion, a playground, and a meadow in the middle of it. It is also expected to feature a new boat launch and a swim raft off of the beach.  The initial designs also have a patio off the back of Agnew’s General Store.
