Head Lake Park Expected to be “Colourful” This Weekend

Colourfest is back and hoping to add colour to your day.

Colourfest is an annual event that started in 2009, commemorating the beginningĀ of fall. The event is put on by the municipality of Dysart et al, and the Haliburton BIA.

The event has a variety of activities that are free to the public, including live music, a classic car show, horse-drawn wagon rides, and face painting.Ā  One of the most popular events is the scarecrow building contest. The contest has three categories. Competitors will try to create the scariest, most artistic and the best historical scarecrow.

Another big draw for the event is the pumpkin roll that sees people competing for a variety of prizes in the separate age categories. Kids five and under are the youngest category, the next category is ages six to nine, then 10 to 13, and finally 14 and older.Ā  Pumpkin rollers will get to choose their pumpkin between 11:00am and 1:50pm.

Colourfest itself is free, but there is expected to be market vendors, a roast beef dinner and a popcorn stand. The event starts at 11:00am on Saturday and goes until 3:00pm.
