Haliburton, Minden and parts of Southern Haliburton County as well as Oxtongue Lake, Fort Irwin and northern Haliburton County are under a severe thunderstorm watch this evening.
Environment Canada says that conditions are favourable for the creation of a thunderstorm. Severe thunderstorms bring with them, the risk of strong winds, Heavy rainfall, and the chance of hail or lightning.
If a storm does form, Environment Canada says that it can create winds capable of breaking branches, tossing about loss objects and perhaps even knock over hydro poles.
Environment Canada urges that if a storm does form to stay inside until the storm has passed.
