After wins by women in Ward One and Three, Algonquin Highlands Council has made history.
Joining Carol Moffatt on the council, is Liz Danielson, Lisa Barry, Jennifer Dailloux, and Julia Shortreed.
Moffatt, Danielson, and Barry were all acclaimed before election night. Julia Shortreed won the Ward One seat with 272 votes, her opponent David Lawson got 117.
Dailloux is the Ward Three councillor after winning 394 votes, to her opponent, Brian Lynch’s, 210 votes.
Moffatt told My Haliburton Now’s Newsroom that this may be the first time that there has been an all-female council in Ontario.
